Todd recently took a couple of the crew on a road trip to Centralia to help with flood relief efforts. Working with the Lewis County Unite Way they were assigned to the Boistfort Valley where several log jams led to flooding never seen before. Over 70 homes were deluged with water as high as their first floor ceilings in an area that rarely if ever sees flooding. The fire department lost all of its equipment. Farmers lost their animals, nurseries their stock, the Curtis store all of its goods and many nearly lost their lives.
With shovels and sledge hammers Todd, Jake and Cy along with Chris from Solution Home Services helped get the final layers of mud and personal belongings from inside a wonderful old home next to the Curtis General Store and then tear out all of the interior walls. This family lost it all - vehicles, clothing, personal mementos, tools, appliances, heat pump and home. As you can see the river left 8 - 10 inches of mud everywhere - under the house, in the walls - everywhere.
Don't forget about the flood victims - they are just now digging out. The most amazing thing we found was their sense of optimism in the face of such devastation. There is a great deal more work to be done - think about volunteering - if you have a crew, take them along!!!
